The gold standard for haematocrit determination
The determination of the haematocrit value through centrifugation remains the standard method (see DIN 58933-1*). Haematocrit centrifuges are primarily used to determine the percentage by volume of erythrocytes in blood.
In this procedure blood is centrifuged in haematocrit capillaries until the maximum cell packing density is reached. Once centrifugation is complete the haematocrit value is read off using the special evaluation disc.
The HAEMATOKRIT 200 provides reliable support for the determination of the haematocrit value. The centrifuge can also be used to prepare blood for the photometric determination of the bilirubin content of plasma. It can also be used to centrifuge special capillaries for quantitative Buffy Coat analysis.
